Yellow Ribbons and Confetti for Corazon Aquino Was All Over the Net

Topblogs statistics show that in the past 4 days, the phrase 'Corazon Aquino' peaked on August 1 and August 4 as of this writing. She died at 3am last August 1, and bloggers and web content writers all over the world, must have wrote tons o articles as a tribute for her.

If not for technology and the millions of Filipinos who care about our nation, I would not have seen what has been going on the past days until Cory Aquino's burial today. I totally depended on the internet for live streaming froam various stations, and I am very thankful to all the Filipinos who never get tired of uploading feeds and clips online for their fellow Kabayans like me who are living far from the Philippines.

Facebook indeed is one that connected me a lot, not only to my friends old and new, but to my home and countrymen. Indeed, what happened today and in the past is one proof that Filipinos can become one in adversity and celebration.

I do hope the legacy of FREEDOM lives forever.

Hoping for the best in the upcoming political changes in the year 2010.

To my friends, fellow bloggers, and all the websites that tied the yellow ribbon as one with all the Filipino people all over the world, "MABUHAY po kayo kabayan" (long live, Filipino)!

To all the BIG NAMES in their respective industries and those who dwell in the internet world who perfectly understand that there are millions of Filipinos all over the world who would always want to get connected to the Philippines, "maraming salamat sa walang sawang pakikipag-ugnayan at pag-aalala sa amin" (thank you for your steadfast efforts in connecting and thinking about us). MABUHAY! (long live!)

Let's not lose hope...and keep living vigilant for the preservation of our freedom.

Michael Jackson dead at 50

I woke up so late in the morning to finish my thesis proposal...and the first thing I usually do (aside from taking a pee) is to open my net ang log in to facebook.

Netscape is the browser that I'd use this morning and the Headline caught my attention. Michael Jackson just passed away on Thursday, June 25 at 2:26 pm in UCLA hospital due to cardiac arrest.

I'm one of the big fans of this sensational popstar, as I grew up in the 80s, when he was soooo BIG a star then. Madonna and Michael Jackson are among the icons I ican vividly remember shown on music videos in the 80s (back then, there was no MTV or Channel V...and these music videos were just fillers in the local TV channels).

Nostalgia. A twinge of sorrow.

Micheal Jackson was a legend. An icon.

Indeed, nothing is permanent in this world. Even fame, power, and in MJs case, skin color.

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, will be remembered fondly by the 80s babies like me.

Freelance Web Writer Goes to Cambodia

The Angkor Wat is one of the world's famous landmarks, and this Freelance Web Writer has been dreaming about seeing this temple since she was 17 years old, upon seeing the lecture slides of her professor in the History of Architecture II.

Freelance Web Writer is doing her masters at day time, and works all night and dawn. The routine is already killing her and she decides to pack her bags and take a real break.

Songkran Holiday is Thailand's long New Year holiday and it was the perfect time to get away. The trip lasted for 3 days going there and back, and had to rush since there were no bus traveling from Siem Reap to Bangkok except on the 13th of April. Otherwise, I'd miss classes the week after Songkran.

The good thing about being a freelance ghost writer is being paid the amount you need or want, and being able to allot time for any activities you want to do at any given time. Indeed, freedom is what being a freelance web writer is all about...and that includes being free from financial worries and at the same time from having to stick to an 8-5 kind of job.

People say doing 2 things at a time will end up some people not being able to do anything.

I admit it's not a bed of roses for a freelance web writer being a student at the same time. And I used to be earning so much money when I used to be a freelance ghost writer full time. Priorities might change, but the good thing about online job is that it's always there and the demand stays unless internet technology revolves into a completely new state.

Freelance web writer really enjoyed her trip to Cambodia, and had a very good stay at Siem Reap. Freelance ghost writer blogs about her trip but seems unable to finish writing her tales due to her busy schedule.

Perhaps, I owe my blogs some quality time soon...but am pretty sure freelance web writer will have ample time when her exams are over.

As pictures say a thousand words, you can take a peek at my Siem Reap photo gallery to see some of the fantastic sights in Cambodia.

A freelance web content writer's life could be short.er than everyone else's?

(In Response to XIAUI)

I was just as shocked as Sharon.

Linda called me at 9 0'clock in the morning of 18th of March breaking the shocking news.

Our dearest professor, Dr. Nowarat Coowanitwong passed away at apparently 7am that day.

A few hours back, at around 2am that same day, Linda and I were having this conversation at the 108 Shop. The Controller Type A personality in me was prevailing again, turning me into a WITCH who wants to get things done fast, worrying so much, and end up getting too disappointed with a certain person not being able to deliver expected output for a certain course I am taking this semester.

At that very hour, while I was pouring outbursts, Linda said I should relax I bit. She said I shouldn't work so hard, or else I will be sick like Dr. Nowarat.

For the love of WORK, I stay up so late....and hardly sleep. I go to class at daytime, and work at night as a freelance web content writer, handling multiple projects at a time.

As a freelance web content writer, I hardly go out...since every single minute of my time counts...and it always gets to me when someone tells me "You work too much!" or something like "You better enjoy your life..." or another version like "You need to do something other than anything that has to do with computers, you know."

They say health is wealth.

And yes, probably, for every hour I miss to sleep...my life gets shorter, and is an irreversible damage to my system (and I quote Alan Sabarillo)....

But what can I do...I work as a freelance web content writer...having fun most of the time...but also thinking about what price I have to pay in the future.

Dr. Nowarat is a remarkable person to me...

...and she will be remembered very well...

She has touched my life here at AIT...and she has left an unspoken legacy which all of us will keep in our hearts...her compassion to people, motivation, and sincerity is so contagious, it can move people...it moved me to work harder for her subject. She touched my classmates and her colleagues lives just as much as well.

A true mentor...Dr. Nowarat is a gem I will keep in my heart.

"I work as a professional stripper online..."

...NOT!...

...but I am just as tempted to say this each time anybody asks me what I do for a living online. It usually takes an internet savvy person to understand what exactly I am doing for a living.

I am about to celebrate my first year anniversary as a web content Ghost Writer...and probably only very few understand this kind of work.

The internet revolution indeed has paved way to many possible things, even to the globalization of outsourcing labor. I work for anyone around the globe, who are ethically called my "buyers", and I provide website services for them being one of their global "providers".

I do many things at one time. I do email support on a regular basis, write articles for website content, do social networking and SEO, and of course, do blogging as my break habit.

So called a Freelance Webwriter, I have ethically developed my own way of thinking in conjuction with my buyers'. I respect the fact that my buyers have timelines and deadlines to beat, and I meet to their expectations in the best way I can. They also respect the fact that I do this for a living, and pay with just compensation...making both parties happy.

What people perceived as standard ways of earning money in the past, might not be so true in the next 2-5 years. Being in an 8am-5pm job might not be as rewarding to me both financially and by principle, nor was it very friendly to my quality of life having my own busines a few months back.

With this online job that I have kept for almost a year now, it's an understatement to say that I am more than gratified. What more can I ask for? I have the passion to write and tinker with HTML, and I'm being paid to do what I really want.

As the internet has revolutionized in the past years, I have very high regards to those who collaborated on taking advantage of this technology by paving way to make HOME-BASED Jobs a reality. No overheads, no headaches. Just handle your time well, do something you love and are good at...and money will follow.

After all, an online stripper's job might just bore me in time...

Google Blocked All Websites....AaaaarGH!

"It's the end of the world!", I thought.

I typed in "Wart Removal" on Google Search. It populated all the links related to wart removal. When I clicked the first search result, it showed a plain Google page warning: "this site can possibly harm your computer".

I clicked the second link at Google search results....and booom!

Third try on the next result, and still the same.

I thought I was tired enough...so I decided to sleep.

I got and email from Hubspot and Cris Lang...and I just realized, it was a glitch on Google. Well thanks Cris and Hubspot for those informative articles.

Kinda scary though...when the world seems to be too dependent on Google, and things like this happen. I am a very Google-help-me-find-the-answers writer...and thanks that it is fixed.

Friendster and Blogging are My Top Time Wasters

I open my Yahoo Messenger and I get an invitation from a friend on Friendster...I think twice...should I, or shouldn't I open it?

Although social networking and blogging sites can be great in connecting with your friends, especially those you have not heard from for so long, I often resist to open any of my social networking profile like Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, or Hi5. These sites can be quite distracting especially when I am rushing for some deadlines.

But how can I help it?

This morning I have already wasted 3 hours of my time, trying to check out my friends' profiles, ending up uploading lots and lots of photos on my own.

That's the art of effective Web Design skills I guess. A few people just know how to get you glued and come back to their sites over and over again.

Maybe in a few click of my mouse, I have contributed to the success of Friendster today, and kudos to them for being very effective in that aspect...especially for people who are Indonesians or Filipinos like me. Thai people like Hi5. Indians like Orkut...and I heard the Americans are BIG on Myspace and Facebook, although Filipinos are picking up on the latter.

But how can we resist wasting time like this everyday? Especially for freelance writers like me, it is easy to get swayed away when you are opening too many tabs on your browser at at time. The best way to get focused on what you're doing is to close unnecessary tabs, and get your job done in no time.

My internet is quite slow in the morning right now, so I usually work late at night until dawn...it can be a little frustrating when working. But you know what? Thanks to this slow slow speed...I just got tired of waiting for Friendster to load up...and closed all the windows with FRIENDSTER on it.

Now, I think I should get back to work! But maybe after a long bath...
